How can we help?
The questions we're asked most, answered. If yours isn't here, write to us — a real person reads every message.
Getting started
How do I get started with Wocably?
Download Wocably from the App Store or Google Play, then create an account with your email address — or sign in with Google or Apple. A short setup asks for your level (A1 to C2), the topics you care about, a daily word goal and a reminder time. After that, add your first words or fork a ready-made deck and start studying.
Does Wocably work offline?
Not yet. Wocably needs an internet connection: your words, decks, dictionary entries and reviews live in your account, so they stay in sync on every device you sign in on. Your progress is saved with every single answer, so nothing is lost if you leave a session halfway. Pronunciation clips you have already played are cached on your phone.
Your account
I can't sign in, or I forgot my password.
On the sign-in screen tap “Forgot password?” and we'll email you a reset link. The link works once and expires after 24 hours, and using it signs you out of your other devices for safety. The email comes from [email protected] — check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive. If you created your account with Google or Apple there is no password: use the same button you signed up with.
How do I pause or delete my account?
Both live in Settings, under Account Actions. Pausing deactivates your account temporarily — sign in again whenever you want it back. Deleting is permanent: your profile is anonymized and your words, decks, stories, quests and review history are erased, with no way to restore them. We send a confirmation email once it's done. If you have a Wocably Pro subscription, cancel it in the App Store or Google Play as well — deleting your account does not stop store billing.
Wocably Pro & billing
What's free, and what needs Wocably Pro?
The free plan includes the full dictionary, flashcards, the Leitner review engine, your own decks, daily quests, streaks and XP — with daily allowances for new words, study sessions, lives and decks, plus the last 7 days of review history. Wocably Pro removes those limits and unlocks the Woci adaptive engine, daily stories written from your words, premium decks, bulk import, streak freezes and your full 30-day history. The app always shows your current limits.
How do I restore, change or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are handled by the App Store and Google Play, not by us. After a reinstall or on a new phone, tap “Restore purchases” on the Wocably Pro screen — use the same store account and the same Wocably account you bought it with. To switch plans or cancel, open your subscription settings in the App Store or Google Play. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription, and Pro stays active until the end of the period you already paid for.
Studying & troubleshooting
What are lives, and why did I run out?
Lives keep sessions honest: every wrong answer in a study session costs one. They refill on their own over time, and the app shows a countdown until the next one — so running out simply means a short break. Wocably Pro gives you unlimited lives and no waiting.
Leitner or Woci — which review engine should I pick?
Leitner is the classic box system: answer a word correctly and it moves to a box with a longer interval; get it wrong and it drops back. It's simple, predictable and available to everyone. Woci is adaptive — instead of fixed boxes it schedules each word from your own answer history, which usually means fewer reviews for the same retention. Woci is part of Wocably Pro. You choose the engine per deck and can switch at any time.
How do streaks, daily goals and reminders work?
Your streak grows by one for every day you finish a study session, and resets if you skip a day. You set your daily word goal (10, 20, 30 or 50 words) and your reminder time in Settings — reminders arrive at 20:00 by default, and Quiet Hours keep notifications out of the night. Wocably Pro includes a couple of streak freezes each month, which can cover a missed day.
A word looks wrong, audio is missing, or something is broken.
Tell us: Settings → Support → Feedback sends a bug report, a feature request or a word suggestion straight to the team. Two things worth knowing first — the speaker button only appears for words that have a recorded pronunciation, so a missing button isn't a bug, and stories are generated once a day after a review session for Wocably Pro members.
